Long Island Lolita: Stripper now, Boca soccer mom soon

Palm Beach Post

The Long Island Lolita wants to become a Boca Raton soccer mom.

Amy Fisher, who is 37 these days, hates when people refer to her as "The Long Island Lolita," a notorious name that doubles as both an embarrassment and a career.

"I don't walk around with horns on my head," she said. "I'm not really that crazy person they created. I'm just like everybody else now."

This week, Fisher, is the featured dancer at T's Lounge, a West Palm Beach strip club that is charging a $10 cover for people to gawk what has become of that 17-year-old girl from Bellmore, Long Island.

It was nearly 20 years ago when Fisher shot the wife of Joey Buttafuoco, a 36-year-old auto body shop owner, in a tawdry love triangle that turned into tabloid gold. Fisher shot Mary Jo Buttafuoco in the head, but didn't kill her. It landed Fisher in prison for seven years and her older boyfriend doing six months for statutory rape.

She's sick of talking about that part of her life. She's been married now for 13 years to a former New York City cop, and is the mother of three young children. And she's ready to leave Long Island for good.

"Doesn't everybody leave New York for Boca Raton?" she asked. "It's like New York with palm trees. Everybody I know is already down here. It's a ready-made life for me.

"I'd be here already if I could sell my house in New York."

She said she's zeroing in on suburban Boca Raton because she likes the schools there.

"Schools are important to us," she said.

What about stripping?

"I got a call from a booking agency asking me to come to a club and do signings of posters," she said. "And that snowballed into, 'You look really good, how about going on stage?'"

So for the past four years, Fisher has been traveling around the country finding work as a featured stripper.

"There's a lot more to it than people realize," she said. "I had to take lessons. What I do is more of a show. I'm not a pole-climbing stripper. I don't do lap dances."

Fisher is dancing in several shows at T's Lounge this week: one Thursday night, three on Friday and two on Saturday.

And a long term plan?

"I don't have one," she said. "I'm like a cat with nine lives."

After getting out of prison, she had a brief stint writing a newspaper column and being the author of a ghost-written autobiography. Then there was the pay-per-view adult film, and a wild tour through reality TV spectacles, including being a cast member on last summer's season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

She and Joey Buttafuoco are on friendly terms. The two of them reunited five years ago in public by doing the coin toss at a pay-per-view Lingerie Bowl, a tackle football game played by models in skimpy clothing.

And last month, Fisher lost a three round celebrity boxing match against "Octomom" Nadya Suleman.

I'm guessing she'll fit in just fine in Boca.

"Just do me a favor," Fisher said. "If you use a picture of me, please don't do that one of the kid in handcuffs. I grew up."
