Meatball eating championship at Hard Rock Saturday

The Martorano’s Masters Meatball Eating Championship comes to South Florida for the first time as Major League Eating competitors chow down from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood.

Held for the past two years in Las Vegas and offering a purse of $3,000, the contest features South Florida restaurateur Steve Martorano’s signature meatballs. It will be preceded by a food-truck roundup and followed by tailgating games in which fans can win tickets to Sunday’s Sun Life Stadium game between the Miami Dolphins and the Philadelphia Eagles.
