Dolphins offensive line vs. Raiders defensive line
• Who won: Dolphins.
• Impact: The Dolphins outgained the Raiders by 220 yards through the game’s first three quarters thanks in large part to the Dolphins offensive line. The unit consistently blew the Raiders’ defenders off the ball, allowing its backfield to pick up big chunks of yards. In the passing game, quarterback Matt Moore was given plenty of time to pick apart the Raiders secondary. Moore completed 13 of 25 attempts for 162 yards and one touchdown without an interception.
Raiders running game vs. Dolphins defensive line
• Who won: Dolphins.
• Impact: The Raiders were limited in the running game because of the absence of Darren McFadden. Backup Michael Bush rushed for 18 yards on 10 carries. As a team, the Raiders managed just 46 yards on the ground. Dolphins defensive linemen Randy Starks, Paul Soliai and Kendall Langford clogged the running lanes, allowing linebackers Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett to have big days. Dansby led the defense with seven tackles, and Burnett had four.
Raiders quarterback vs. Dolphins secondary
• Who won: Dolphins.
• Impact: Stopgap Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer looked more out-of-sync against the Dolphins than any other team. Palmer was hurried five times and sacked twice by the Dolphins’ pass rush. All the pressure led to a great day for the Dolphins secondary, which had six pass deflections and an interception. Cornerback Vontae Davis had a great game, and cornerback Will Allen led the team with two pass deflections. Kevin Burnett’s 34-yard interception return for a touchdown was the defense’s highlight of the day.
