Two rescued from sinking boat in Everglades

Sun Sentinel

Two people who were stuck in a sinking boat in the Everglades have been rescued, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The call for help came in after 4 p.m. Friday from an area south of Holiday Park, on the 21900 block of Griffin Road in west Broward County.

The boaters, Justin Bernhard and Eric Vega, were reported to be in good condition but were stranded when their small vessel took on water and became half submerged in a waterway west of U.S. Highway 27.

They plan to return to recover their boat, they said.
