Four Miami-Dade County high schools get top honors, according to a national ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

The magazine recently released its annual list of top high schools in various categories, including Gold Medal High Schools, best magnet schools and top charters.

On the list of America’s Best High Schools: Coral Reef Senior High; Design & Architecture Senior High School, known as DASH; Maritime & Science Technology Academy, or MAST; and the New World School of the Arts.

To select and rank the schools, the magazine analyzed data from more than 20,000 high schools. The analysis looks at how students scored on the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests, among other data. The top 100 schools are considered Gold Medal high schools.

Five other high schools in Miami-Dade received other recognition, including silver, bronze and honorable mention. They are:

•  Mater Academy Charter Middle/High

•  Three campuses of the School for Advanced Studies, a dual enrollment high school run by Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami-Dade College
