Village Council to discuss rezoning

The Key Biscayne Village Council will host a workshop at 6 p.m. Tuesday to discuss rezoning the former Sonesta Hotel and Resort site, at Village Hall, 560 Crandon Blvd.

For the past few weeks, council members have been discussing legislation to rezone the hotel-resort district, where the property is located.

In 2007, a prior Village Council approved a developer's controversial site plan to build 165 condominiums on the site.

Mayor Frank Caplan and other council members have said they would like to see a hotel built on the property in the future.
