Preparations underway for 2010 Americas Conference in Coral Gables

The two-day Americas Conference will kick off in mid-September in Coral Gables with this year's focus on: ``The Americas -- A New Era of Innovation.''

In its 14th year, the conference sponsored by The Miami Herald and The World Bank will be Sept. 14 and 15 at the Biltmore Hotel.

Topics and issues of concern to Latin America and the Caribbean will take center stage.

Experts in the region will analyze the possible impact of elections later this year in country's like Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru.

And the progress made in the rebuilding of Haiti following January's killer earthquake will also be examined.

Among the panels being offered: ``Latin America's Innovation Challenges,'' `` U.S. Policy in the Region: What's New,'' ``The Caribbean After the Crisis.
