Blanche Ely guard Conner to attend Towson University

Pompano Beach Blanche Ely guard Fredrick Conner, considered the heart and soul of the Tigers' first 26-0 start in school history, has signed with Towson (Md.) University.

Of all the elite guards that have played under Tigers coach Melvin Randall, including current UF star Kenny Boynton Jr., Elton Nesbitt and Julius Jenkins, Randall said Conner had the biggest impact on both ends of the court.

"Here's a kid that left a legacy at Blanche Ely,'' Randall said. "I've never had a kid that wore so many hats on the floor defensively and offensively . . . 110 percent at all times.''

The 6-1 Conner averaged a team-high 18 points, 5 assists and 3 steals to earn All-Broward first-team honors and scored a game-high 37 points in the season-ending loss to Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer in the Region 4-5A semifinals.

With Conner and 6-3 forward Jonathan Randolph setting the physical tone, Ely captured team titles at the Arby's/KFC Holiday Classic in Kentucky, D-Hop Classic and BCAA Big 8 county championship.
