Anyone excited about the arrival of the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center this summer doesn't have to wait for the doors to open and tickets to be sold to start showing their support. The city has started programs in which residents can make donations that will help pay for the programs and events the center will host.

``It's a great opportunity for residents to take ownership of the Arts & Cultural Center,'' said Aventura Mayor Susan Gottleib. ``Years later, you will always be able to look back and say, `I was there.' ''

Residents can contribute to the center in two ways.

The Walk of Arts Brick Paver Program invites the public to purchase commemorative bricks that will be located on the grounds of the cultural center. Each brick costs $150.

Someone looking to show more substantial support can become a Founder with a donation of $1,000 to $5,000.

Founders' names will be placed on an honor roll that will be displayed in the center lobby. They also will receive two tickets to an opening event in 2010 and to a ``special event to recognize their generosity,'' according to a city press release.

Gottleib already has made her donation and hopes more residents will do the same.

``When my grandchildren go to the center, they will see their names there,'' she said.
