FSU's Hudson tackles new spot
TALLAHASSEE -- With sophomore left tackle Andrew Datko hampered by an undisclosed injury sustained Saturday at Clemson, the Seminoles called upon junior guard Rodney Hudson to fill that void in practice Tuesday. Hudson, who is an All-American candidate at guard, reportedly was equally impressive at tackle.
Offensive line coach Rick Trickett said he expects Datko to return to practice soon -- as early as Wednesday -- but he would feel comfortable either way.
In Hudson's place, the Seminoles worked reserves Brandon Davis and Blake Snider at left guard.
MANUEL IMPRESSES
All eyes Tuesday were on freshman quarterback E.J. Manuel, who will make his first career start at Wake Forest on Saturday. Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher and coach Bobby Bowden said they were pleased with his development.
``He is making good progress,'' Bowden said. ``Jimbo is trying to be sure we're running stuff he can handle and trying to find out what he handles best.''
Manuel is stepping in following a season-ending shoulder injury sustained by junior starter Christian Ponder.
