Barry wins in women's soccer

Lainie Ferring had three goals and Melissa Madrid two goals, helping the Barry women's soccer team defeat Palm Beach Atlanta 5-0 on Tuesday in the Buccaneers' final home game of the season.

Ferring opened the scoring in the 20th minute for Barry (5-10-0), which has won four of its past five games. Palm Beach Atlantic drops to 4-7-0.

Emily Pratt made four saves to preserve her second shutout in a row for Barry. Ashley Morrell made six saves for Palm Beach Atlantic.

WOMEN'S GOLF

UM: Jennifer Hirano tied for 15th in the individual standings, and the Hurricanes finished 12th at the 54-hole Lady Pirate Intercollegiate at Greenville (S.C.) Country Club.

Hirano finished at 10-over-par 223, 12 shots behind medalist Tara McFadden of Elon. Georgia State won the team title at 27-over 879. Host East Carolina (881) was second, followed by East Tennessee State (891), Xavier (892) and Elon (895).
