UNITED NATIONS -- (AP) -- The United Nations says a U.N. plane monitoring
the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic crashed with 6 to 10
military personnel on board.
U.N. spokeswoman Michele Montas said the Uruguayan surveillance plane,
assigned to the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Haiti, went down Friday in
rugged terrain west of Fonds-Verettes near the border.
She said teams have been sent to the area on foot, and it was not known
whether there were any survivors.
