    The ongoing civil war in Syria has prompted scared families to flee the war-torn country. South Florida’s Syrian community is relatively small — about 3,000 who live in Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe and Palm Beach counties, according to Census estimates from the 2008-12 American Community Survey.
