MAGELLAN
This heavily-promoted ship-to-be, to be built by Residential Cruise Line, is offering both full and fractional ownership (time-share) of residences. The company also has a memo of understanding with Aker Shipyard. Company officials anticipate signing a construction contract this year, with construction taking about three years. Pricing of the ship's 210 residences starts at $156,250 for a two-week fractional ownership and runs $1.87 million to $16.7 million for full ownership. Magellan will have a heliport, observatory, microbrewery, greenhouse and a retractable marina.

UTOPIA
Prudential Douglas Elliman plans to start selling this ship around mid-June after taking it over from Orphalese Global Strategies, which had called it The Orphalese. The proposed ship would have 170 residences priced from $3.25 million to $17 million and 250 rental hotel suites. One unusual aspect: The ship will have a philanthropic component, ''for doing good works at ports it visits,'' said Steve Cid, director of Utopia sales for Prudential. Orphalese had a memo of understanding with Aker Shipyard, but Cid did not know whether that still holds.
