Cuba's Fidel Castro, in his first public comment on the rescue in Colombia of Ingrid Betancourt and other prisoners of the FARC guerrillas, wrote Friday that moved "by a basic sentiment of humanity, we were gladdened by the news that Ingrid Betancourt, three American citizens and other captives had been liberated."
