Police identified a bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run accident in Southwest Miami-Dade Monday night as 46-year-old Yasmany Sosa Alfonso.

Alfonso died on the shoulder of the road in the 15300 block of Southwest 157th Avenue. He was riding home from work on a light-blue bicycle when he was struck by a car heading north, said Detective Roy Rutland, a Miami-Dade police spokesman.

The man's family became concerned when he didn't arrive home, and went out to look for him. They found him unconscious, and contacted police about 8:30 p.m.

This was the second fatal hit-and-run accident in South Miami-Dade in five days. On Thursday, a man was struck as he crossed the street at Southwest 117th Avenue near 192nd Street.

Police did not have a description of the car in Monday's accident. Investigators asked anyone with information to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-8477.
