South Korea international Ji-Sung Park will not play in Wednesday's Champions League clash between Manchester United and Wolfsburg at Old Trafford.
The midfielder missed training on Tuesday with a virus and will not have recovered in time to face last season's German champions.
However, Patrice Evra, who was struggling with a similar bug over the weekend, and Michael Owen, who missed the same training session with a groin problem, are expected to feature against Wolfsburg.
"Ji-Sung has a virus," confirmed United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. "Patrice Evra had it at the weekend. After the Stoke game he felt a bit uneasy - he was in bed on Sunday and didn't come to training, but he came in for a bit on Monday, came in on Tuesday and he should be alright.
"Michael should be alright for tomorrow. He had a tight groin in training yesterday, nothing serious. But obviously for the game tomorrow we didn't want to be pushing that. Other than that, everyone's fit."
Wolfsburg are currently sixth in the Bundesliga table, five points behind early leaders Hamburg, after winning four of its opening six matches.
Wolfsburg started its Champions League campaign with a 3-1 home win against CSKA Moscow two weeks ago.
