Rangers hopeful over injured trio

The Sports Network

Rangers manager Walter Smith hopes three of his injured stars will be fit enough to play in the Champions League game against Sevilla.

Steven Davis missed Saturday's goalless draw with Aberdeen because of illness while Sasa Papac was absent with a hamstring strain and Steven Smith has a hip injury.

An upbeat Smith said: "We still have a doubt over Sasa Papac and Steven Davis, both of whom missed the game at the weekend.

"But I'm hopeful each will still be fit for the match. Obviously, though, there is still an element of doubt and it will be tomorrow before we'll know for certain.

"Sasa may do a bit of light jogging today but that's all we'll ask of him and we'll look to see how his injury is again in the morning.

"I think Steven and Sasa have both been important players for us and we're looking forward to getting both of them back.

"As for Steven Smith, he has a hip injury but I think he will be okay as well and that's a further boost."
