This camp is also for youngsters not yet on any radar screen. Athletes such as Tevin Allen (Western), Daniel Mervos (Cooper City) and many more who are hoping to attract a scholarship next year at this time.
''I brought my kids here for exposure,'' said Hollywood Hills coach Scott Barnwell. ``I want my players to see what they need to work on before the start of spring. We will attend this one and perhaps the elitescoutingservices.com event on April 25 at Cardinal Gibbons. That is an event that will see all the results go directly to colleges and not posted all over web sites.''
FUN TO WATCH
It's always fun to see Killian defensive back Richard Leonard compete, and one of my new favorites, Tony Grimes, the huge corner from Hollywood Hills, who has started to turn heads all over the country. There are also Booker T. Washington favorites such as Lynden Trail, Quinton Dunbar, Jose, Jose and versatile running back Eduardo Clements.
No matter where you look at some of these events, there are star-quality youngsters such as Miramar linebacker Jamaal Bass and receiver Ivan McCartey, Cardinal Gibbons receiver Shawn Corker and running back Daryeon Chance, and Monsignor Pace standouts DeAndre Johnson, Jon Ragoo, Zachary Soto, and Plantation's Gilbert St. Louis, who for second straight week, dazzled with his speed and athletic ability.
There were also Northwestern stars such as Michaelee Harris, Torrian Johnson, Khambrel McGee, Donald Senat and Corvin Lamb.
''I come out and do the best I can,'' Johnson said. ``With the team we will have next year, I cannot wait for events like this to get things going.''
