There is no denying, Florida schools have been best past 4 years

lblustein@MiamiHerald.com

Joining Linder up front will be seniors Jermaine Barton (6-7, 280), James Fillichio (6-0, 220), Jon Marmosa (6-2, 210) and Jon Mills (6-4, 265), and juniors Austin Barron (6-3, 250) and Andrew Reyes, OL/DL, 6-2, 255). The Raiders also have one of the top long snappers in the state in Danny Adams.

If Bernard and White need rest, quality talent is not far behind in Matt Arena (6-0, 195), Jamal Wilson (5-10, 170) and sophomore Dami Ayoola, a 5-11, 180-pounder.

Stepping in at receiver will be seniors Austin Bombach (6-2, 175) and James Dolan (6-0, 190), speedy junior Phil Dorsett (5-9, 170) and sophomores Gavin Sinclair (5-11, 150) and versatile Matt Lescano (5-11, 150). Joyner will also add a spark as well.

BATTLE AT QUARTERBACK

With Becker's departure, nearly 75 touchdown passes from the past two years went with one of the most taken for granted players in Florida last season. Senior transfer Turner Baty (6-2, 190) and junior Jake Ruddock (6-2, 175) will continue to battle for the top spot through the summer.

Special teams will once again be very special for this program with Mike Palardy handling the punting and kicking, but if he needs help, fellow senior Ben Hopfinger is as good as anyone in the state!

While the college coaches were treated to quite a show this spring, the Raiders will never rest on what has happened in the past. No sooner did the fans and coaches head out of Fort Lauderdale when Smith was already making plans for a summer that includes one of the most impressive workouts you will find anywhere.

ON THE MOVE

Two former South Florida area stars are headed to new schools for the upcoming season.

One-time Plantation standout Dennis Campbell has left Rutgers and will be headed out to play at Abilene Christian, and Gulliver standout linebacker Brandon Marti, who attended the University of Miami, will recharge his career at Eastern Arizona Junior College.

KEEP YOUR EYE ON THESE PLAYERS

While there are several top-flight seniors that we have been talking about, a few underclassmen have also been making some noise as well.

American, attempting to get back in the inning groove, with a new district, has a pair of rising 6-5 juniors who are impressive. Defensive end Willie Bromell and receiver/tight end Carlos Carvajal have looked very impressive. So has Central linebacker Miles Pace, who was a youth football standout, before starting his career at American and landing with the Rockets.

A few young players in Broward have also been impressive like Cardinal Gibbons linebacker Keelan Wilks, North Broward Prep running back Chris Lyle and Pines Charter running back Brandon Bennett, who ESPN college football analyst and standout running back Robert Smith has been working with.

We will continue to spotlight more players throughout the next few months. Don't forget that our state Pre-Summer 100 lists will be out along with updated Miami-Dade and Broward lists, soon.

Don't forget that we are always looking to help expose our area recruits for the current Class of 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. All you have to do is send a DVD and information about the athlete to: Larry Blustein, P.O. Box 3181, Hallandale Beach, Fl. 33009.

Larry Blustein is co-host of the Miami Dolphins Gridiron Show every Thursday evening from 8-9 on WQAM (560 AM). Have a comment? E-mail lblustein@MiamiHerald.com.
