Still going: My father was my first yoga teacher. I started teaching 30 to 40 years ago. I'm from India. I lived in Bolivia for a year and I've been to Australia and Colombia. I spent 10 years teaching in Latin America. I started the Institute of Holistic Yoga of North America in Miami in 1989.
In harmony: My job is helping people achieve a happy, balanced life through yoga. The breathing, relaxation and concentration can help you harmonize. When man is more centralized and calm, he can think properly.
On a mission: I like to train people around the world. In India I have a center that works with poor people. I give respect to people and I respect human value.
Hold the meat: I'm a vegetarian. I've never tasted meat, eggs or chicken. I eat vegetables grown on the soil and I feel very healthy. Food is important for the mind, body and soul. We can get proteins and minerals from vegetables and fruits. You have to eat properly. People consume too much junk food nowadays.
Listening, learning: I'm going to North Carolina, Trinidad and India for workshops this summer. I'm a communicator. I like to listen to people. Listening is an art. When we listen we learn more.
Laugh a little: Be humble. A simple life is less complicated. God gives us exactly what we need, but we want, want, want. Happiness depends on us. I like to make jokes and sing the songs that no one sings. When those around me become happy, that multiplies my happiness.
