HOPE RELAY
FRIDAY, MAY 16, Join the Hope Relay for Life with participation by religious organizations. The event kicks off with an opening ceremony 6 p.m. Friday and closes 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Cross HealthPlex at Holy Cross Hospital, 1000 NE 56th St., Fort Lauderdale. A dinner that celebrates cancer survivors and honors those who have lost their battle against cancer follows the opening ceremony. $100 for a new team, free to join an existing team, individuals, donations accepted. 954-928-1778.

Discover the Treasures of Yoga 10 to 11:30 a.m., Friday at the Miami Elks Lodge, 6304 SW 78th St., South Miami. Yoga instructor Stacey Berkley presents hatha yoga class designed to relieve stress and add balance to your life. $10 per class (also meets 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays) 305-274-8029.

SATURDAY, MAY 17, Kids 7 to 13 can play Healthy Hoops Kick Off 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Vincent Torres Memorial Park, 4331 NW 36th St., Lauderdale Lakes. The Healthy Hoops program uses basketball to teach kids with asthma and their parents how to deal with the disease through nutrition, exercise and appropriate medication use. Parents can sit in on asthma education seminars while kids play basketball, get screened for asthma and play games. Free, but participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 954-302-6122.
MOVE AND GROOVE
MONDAY, MAY 19, Be cool at school with Jazzercise 6 p.m. Monday at the Miami Springs Recreation Center, 401 Westward Dr., Miami Springs. The class is open to adults and kids. Fee is $35 for the entire month (also meets Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday). 305-989-4814.

Dr. Isabel Gomez-Bassols, a psychologist, will discuss stress management, work-life balance and the importance of taking time out to take care of your health. SATURDAY, MAY 17, Start things off with a continental breakfast at the Women's Health Day 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University of Miami Hospital, Seminar Center, 1400 NW 12th Ave., Miami. Then select among seminars on preconception counseling, cancer prevention and early detection plus skin care and plastic surgery. And don't miss Heart Healthy at Every Age, a lecture by Dr. Pascal J. SUNDAY, MAY 18, Cancer survivors and their loved ones can Celebrate the Art of Survival-Cancer Survivors Day 1 to 3 p.m. at Victor E. Clarke Education Center, 6200 SW 73rd St., South Miami. Therapists from South Miami Hospital Behavioral and Collaborative Medicine Program present demonstrations to help participants express themselves through art, dance and writing.
