When the Braddock girls' basketball team takes the court for a district showdown against Coral Park on Wednesday night, the Bulldogs will be unveiling a new look.

The team will not be dressed in their traditional silver, white and blue, but in new pink uniforms to show their support for breast cancer research.

''I saw colleges doing it, and it's been in the back of my mind for a while,'' Braddock athletic director Kevin Whelan said. 'We're planning on doing the same thing for softball and girls' volleyball.''

Instead of giving out tickets to the game, Braddock will be giving out pink ribbons.

All proceeds from the game will go to cancer research.

TAYLOR FIU-BOUND

Archbishop Carroll safety Terrance Taylor, who backed off his commitment to Rutgers last month, has given FIU his commitment.

Taylor (6-0, 183 pounds) had 93 tackles, three interceptions, as well as three fumbles forced and recovered for the Bulldogs this season. Taylor will play for the Miami-Dade All-Stars in Friday's South Florida All-Star game at Traz Powell Stadium.
