NEW REALITY SHOWThe Bravo network is casting a new reality show that features emerging and semi-established visual artists -- and one of the places where they'll come looking for talent is -- you guessed it -- Miami.
Magical Elves (Project Runway, Top Chef) and actress Sarah Jessica Parker and her production company Pretty Matches will produce the hour-long creative competition series in which 13 aspiring contemporary artists vie to ''conquer the art world,'' according to Bravo's press release.
The TV show is called The Untitled Art Project, and the artists will compete to win a gallery show, a cash prize and a sponsored national tour.
Open casting call is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fredric Snitzer Gallery, 2247 NW First Pl. in Wynwood.

L.A. ARTIST HAEGTO LEAD WORKSHOP
Los Angeles artist Fritz Haeg will lead a workshop at 2 p.m. July 25 on his project Salon Colada: Miami HQ, an installation and series of salon discussions he initiated for the exhibition Convention, on view through Sept. 13 at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The event is free with admission to MOCA, 770 NE 125th St., North Miami.
Haeg selected Coral Gables residents Keith Waddington and Mindy Nelson from an open-call for Miami-area residents interested in conducting salon discussions in their home. The couple, professors at University of Miami, agreed to have the contents of their living room transplanted to the museum galleries, while Haeg provided new furnishings to facilitate the meetings in their home. Four salon discussions have been held on topics from art and science and tourism to Indian cuisine and AravindAdiga's Booker Prize-winning novel The White Tiger. At an upcoming salon titled ''Neighborhood Know-How,'' participants will share with the group a skill or an area of expertise.

FINANCIAL FALLOUTCity Theatre has just wrapped up its 14th annual Summer Shorts Festival, and the combination of the bad economy and sagging attendance has left the company $50,000 in the red. Immediately paying the price: artistic director Stuart Meltzer, who was let go this week after his second season with the company.
''The reviews and responses from audiences were strong, but we didn't hit our numbers,'' says executive director Stephanie Norman, one of the company's three founders. ``We had significant shortfalls in both counties.''
Streamlining City Theatre's operations in anticipation of a $15,000 to $20,000 falloff in grant money for next season, Norman, board chair Alan Fein and other board members decided the company could no longer afford a full-time artistic director and should return to hiring a seasonal festival coordinator.
''Stuart is a charming, bright, articulate, wonderfully creative soul,'' Norman says. `` . . . Do we agree on everything? No. When you put on art, disagreement is just human nature. This model didn't work. For better or worse, it has to change.''
