The red carpet for the 80th Oscars has been rolled up and the golden statues dismantled for another year. But one thing never ends: The push by publicists to get ink for designers who lend their booty to Hollywood babes.
Some stars may dally long enough to praise their borrowed gowns, but since one well-noted dress can send a designer's annual sales figures to the moon, details about who wore what are not left to chance.
Even before Best Picture is announced, publicists are firing off press releases to writers, hoping their tidbits make it into print in the coming weeks.
Here are some behind-the-scenes notes -- verbatim -- that design houses and others regular offer us, from high style to low, trivial to the sublime. Only the italics are ours.
Anne Hathaway: Harry Winston, 10-carat diamond cushion-cut, micro-pave drop earrings; valued at more than $1 million.
Hollywood Fashion Tape: the stars' secrets revealed! Hollywood Fashion Tape was backstage at the Oscars for the fifth year in a row ensuring there was no strapless gown slippage or one-shouldered dippage.
The following leading ladies are anticipated to walk the red carpet with handbags by Daniel Swarovski . . .
Please be advised that Mary J. Blige is carrying a pale gold woven metal box clutch by Cole Haan to the 16th Annual Elton John Aids Foundation Oscar Party.
Jason Lewis wore a one button peak lapel, black metallic, linen tuxedo, white shirt and black tie by Dolce & Gabbana.
Colin Farrell stepped out on the red carpet wearing a dunhill midnight blue double-breasted evening suit, dress shirt and tie.
FINOLA HUGHES HAS A FEW THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE OSCAR RED CARPET! (host of the Style Network's How Do I look?).
Below are some gowns offered by www.unique-vintage.com that offers very similar styles and looks of the trendy dresses worn by the stars at last night's ACADEMY AWARDS.
Harrison Ford also sported the lesser known Brant and looked flawless in the cashmere mink tuxedo jacket with a classic pant valued at $2,000, to compliment Calista Flockhart's ice blue with grey hand pleated accent goddess gown from Rare Vintage NYC.
